We asked the world how far they would go #ForTheThrone

Leading up to its final season, the whole world wanted to be part of the biggest show on TV. But in Game of Thrones, there is no easy path to the throne. The characters have lied, betrayed and killed for the throne. So in order to see what the fans would do to prove their love for the show, we asked them one question: How far would you go? #ForTheThrone.

Bud Light killed their beloved knight on the world's biggest stage #ForTheThrone

Cersei put it best—“When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.” During the show’s year long hiatus, a new GoT-inspired knight rose to power—the Bud Knight. Of course, we couldn't allow this to happen, so for the Super Bowl we pledged allegiance with Bud Light and decided to execute their mascot in true GoT fashion. This act of violence then became the ultimate proof of how far all kinds of fans would go to #ForTheThrone.

352,344 Game of Thrones Fans Spilled Their Own Blood #ForTheThrone

We challenge fans to prove just how far they would go #ForTheThrone by giving them an opportunity of a lifetime–to see the season 8 premiere ahead of its digital release. The twist? They had to prove how much they wanted it, by sacrificing their own blood. To do this, we partnered with the American Red Cross to host a global blood drive where fans donated blood in the name of the show, starting with an immersive GoT-themed blood drive at SXSW.

30,000 Game of Thrones Fans Traveled to the Ends of the Earth #ForTheThrone

In Game of Thrones, characters have sacrificed their lives, hands and dignity to sit on the Iron Throne. But in the real world, fans have had a way too easy path to a photo opp on the throne. So we turned the tables and put fans' love for the show to the test, by suddenly dropping 360° videos of six iron thrones in six unknown locations, challenging fans to find them using cryptic clues and hints within the videos. Fans congregated online to help each other to analyze everything from the flora, to weather patterns, to wildlife sounds and carefully planted Easter eggs. The person who eventually found and sat first on each throne was surprised with tickets to the red carpet premiere of season 8.
